Welcome one and all to the new decade! It’s 2020, and a fresh new start beckons! With the New Year upon us, it’s easy to put the past behind us, and tell ourselves that this is the year everything will change. We tell ourselves that this is the year when our luck will turn. This is the year we will finally get round to achieving everything we keep saying we will “one day” do. But here’s a wake-up call: things don’t change themselves unless we make a change ourselves.
Every year, we see so many people eager to improve themselves, and it’s great. But I’m sure we are all guilty of sitting there and imagining the big picture and becoming overwhelmed with it all before ultimately achieving very little. So, this year we want to help you do things a little differently!
AfterShokz is here to guide you through a year of monthly manageable challenges. We picked 12 themes that are important to people, and we plan to tackle one for each month of 2020. For January we start with “Be Persistent”!
RAYA HUBBELL is a triathlon coach who experienced serious injuries and was at risk of never walking again.. Follow @AfterShokzUK #Shokzchallenge to check out her story:
“Spinal cord. Back. Collarbone. Knee. Ribs. They were damaged, broken, bruised and battered. My spirit was crushed. I was 21 and my career in professional ski racing had just come to an end. After a lifetime of being on the slopes I wasn’t sure what was going to come next. My surgeons carefully expressed their concern that I may never walk again.
I asked my Dad “what am I going to do?"
And he said quite simply, “Raya, you’re going to live”.
Meet Barry Bear, a bear stuck in a rut. Join the January “Be Persistent” challenge, and maybe even treat yourself to a special edition Aeropex-Barry bundle as we help him find his spark again.
“Hey, my name is Barry AfterShokz. I am a bear, and once upon a time, running was my favorite. Somehow I’ve found myself rushing between family and work and forget what it feels like to be outside. In 2020, I decided to find the old me again, will you join me?”
Change can only come from within. .I know it’s cold out there, but get up, step out and don’t let the weather hold you back. Let’s be persistent, make changes gradually, step by step and never forget why you started!
Last but not least, a mantra for you:
“Keep Going
Your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end.”
