I have a few ear piercings which are simply not compatible with wearing earbuds, or any sort of in-ear headphones. In my search for a piercing-friendly solution (that weren't bulky over-ear), I discovered Shokz and their bone-conduction range. I have been using Shokz OpenFit headphones for the last year, and I love them. They are comfy with good sound, and do not interfere with my piercings. Big win!
That is, until the weather turned, and I needed to start wearing a hat or a headband on my runs to keep my ears warm (all that metal makes you feel the cold more!). Sadly, the back wire on the OpenFit are pushed down when wearing a hat or headband, which then puts pressure on the backs of my ears and piercings, and is quite painful.
Seeking another option, I checked the Shokz website and found the OpenFit range. After some research, I chose the OpenFit Air and couldn't wait to try them.
I'm so glad I did - these are the most comfortable set of headphones I've ever worn. They are so light, you barely feel them and they do not slip or slide. Best of all, I can wear them UNDER a hat or tight headband, totally covering my ears, and they remain comfy with no pressure points, and no changes to the sound quality.
The reason I can't give a full 5-stars is down to the touch-gesture controls. My first few runs with these headphones were in the rain (classic UK winter) and the moment they get wet in the rain, the touch controls went haywire and the volume turned up or down by themselves, and then will not work when I tried to rectify. This also happened when they were snug underneath my headband - the moisture caused by my sweat caused the same issue. Not fun having to stop a run dead to fix possessed headphones! Even less fun when it keeps happening and you resort to running in silence.
After some research, I found that you can disable to touch controls via the Shokz app - this wasn't clear in any of the research I conducted, but frankly, this feature saved the day and after switching the controls off and trying again, I decided against returning them.
I'm very glad I kept them, but PLEASE stop putting touch-controls on everything - what's wrong with a button? I downloaded the app simply to switch the touch-controls off entirely with no plans to turn them back on.
There is also no manual off switch - the headphones turn on/off automatically when you take them in and out of the case. I sometimes forget to bring the case with me upstairs, and have to go back down to retrieve the case just to turn them off. A small but annoying thing.
The left one has failed to switch on correctly once or twice after taking then out of the case, but this is rectified by putting them back in the case, and taking them out once again.
Having said all that, I do LOVE these headphones! They are far from perfect, and I hope to see these issues improved for 2.0 version. Still recommend, despite the flaws.
I got myself the Openfit Air as a replacement for playing music out loud while running. It’s a great option for wanting to keep awareness of traffic and other path users. Sound is crisp and connects to iPhone quickly. No issues with the fit and they aren’t too heavy nor do they rub when under a headband. Great option and definitely recommend!
After trialing these earphones over the past month, I can safely say I LOVE them!
I bought these earphones specifically for running, as my previous pair of ear pods would slide out of my ears during a run. I was a little wary at first about using the Shokz OPENFIT Air because they don’t fully go into your ears, and I worried they might fall out—but they absolutely don’t! The open-ear design lets me hear my surroundings while listening to music, which is especially comforting when running alone in the evening.
I’ve also found myself using these earphones for daily activities because they’re so comfortable. Since they don’t go inside my ears, there’s no discomfort even after extended use.
The battery life has been fantastic—I think I’ve only had to charge them once so far! Plus, they charge super quickly, which is such a bonus.
I purchased my Shokz directly from the official Shokz website. The site made it easy to compare products, helping me choose the right pair for my needs. I bought them during the Christmas sales and even snagged an extra discount, so the shopping experience was seamless and couldn’t be faulted.

I finally ordered the openfit air headphones and they are so worth it. The headphones are super comfy, secure and the sound quality is brilliant. The are easy to use and pair to your phone too. I’ve already recommended them to quite a few people!
What a great pair of headphones they stay in place have great sound whilst keeping me safe while jogging or cycling by enabling me to hear the world around me. Also awesome for teams/zoom meetings in office as I can hear how loud I am speaking

1. Start by selecting “MultiPoint Pairing” in the Shokz App.
2. On the pop-up page, confirm to open the MultiPoint Pairing function.
3. Select "Connect To The Second Device" and follow the instructions to establish a connection with the second device.
4.Your headphones are now connected to two devices. You can manage their Bluetooth connections conveniently through the Shokz App.

When using during outdoor activity, please ensure earbuds are being properly worn and control the volume to ensure that you can hear your surroundings, including traffic signals, passersby, etc. Using OpenFit Air while riding or driving may distract your attention and have higher risk of sports injury and traffic accident; using OpenFit Air while riding or driving may violate local laws or community regulations, use this product in compliance with local laws and community regulations.
3. Drawing insights from the Shokz Acoustic Laboratory's experiments simulating scenarios like intersections, train stations, and restaurants, aligning the dual microphones to this position yields an average signal-to-noise ratio improvement of 29dB when the artificial head experiences a sound pressure level of 65-72dB(A). This translates to a 96.5% reduction in environmental noise.
4. This data was gathered at the Shokz Lab in a temperature-controlled environment of 25±2 °C, playing ACC-encoded audio at a 50% volume and all other features set to default. The actual battery life depends on the volume, sound source, degree of environmental interference, product features, use habits, and other factors. Quick charging requires the charging case to be in the green light prompt state.
5. IP54 water-resistance only applies to the earbuds, and charging case is not rated waterproof. OpenFit Air was tested under controlled laboratory conditions and has a rating of IP54 under IEC standard 60529. Water-resistance is not a permanent condition and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Please do not submerge or expose OpenFit Air for an extended period to water. Please do not attempt to charge a wet OpenFit Air.
6. MultiPoint Pairing is disabled by default and can be activated in the Shokz App. The headphones can memorize up to 5 devices.
