"I TRAIN, I REST, I RECOVER... WHEN I'M HAPPY I PERFORM MY BEST". WORLD CLASS TRIATHLETE EM PALLANT TALKS US THROUGH HER JOURNEY IN SPORT AND HOW SHE'S REACHED THE TOP.
I’ve always grown up with sport.
I had amazing success on the wheeled stage and managed to make running a career.
The better I was at running the more excited I got about it and that meant the more I would push myself.
I was supposed to have a knee injury fixed but I kept pushing it out, thinking “after this race, after this race”. It caught up with me and the surgeons were honest in saying that I may never be able to come back.
I took up swimming and cycling to keep fit and I was setting goals for myself to make it more fun. Triathlon came on as a progression from that.
EMMA PALLANT
ins: em_pallantMy name is Emma Pallant and... I’m an elite triathlete.
I came back from injury even stronger.
When I first raced in a triathlon I was sixth, and completely hooked from that point on. My coaches said I had what it took to get to the top but I’d have to commit 100%.
At the time I was doing private practice physiotherapy but I believed in myself and took the plunge. I committed to triathlon 100%.
It’s been an intense and absolutely incredible journey since then. Each year I strive to be the best athlete that I can be.
I couldn’t ask for better support.
From my family to my coaches, my sponsors and everyone involved in what I do day in and day out.
My family is my absolute rock and I owe a lot to them to being here, doing what I love and competing at the highest level. When I’m competing, or having a hard day training and need to grit my teeth to keep going I just think of my family and everyone involved with my life.
I think of everything I give up to do this, and everyone who supports me and that keeps me going and pushing hard than ever.
When I’m training, there’s a lot to think about. A lot to do. Aftershokz is that perfect detail that cuts through the noise but still keeps me focussed on hitting my goals.
My days can belong, and intense...
I train, I rest, I recover.. My eyes are always ahead of the prize. When I’m racing, I try to keep calm while I’m doing it and appreciate the moment.
I perform best when I’m happiest.
When I’m in a good place I’ll do my best races.
Every day that I’m working towards achieving my goals I’m getting stronger and faster and I’m staying happy. You get one life, one decision on how to live it.
I’m living my dream right now.
