We conducted a new product trial campaign by randomly selecting eligible users to try the new Shokz OpenSwim Pro and OpenFit Air. They were asked to test the headphones in various scenarios, including daily use, intense workouts, and specifically taking a swim with the OpenSwim Pro. Here is what they had to say.
How they Feel in the Field
“With a few runs done, there have been multiple points I forget I'm even wearing headphones as they are that light. As always with Shokz, the build quality is great, with a comfortable design and sleek look” said @Calabsadler.
The OpenFit Air earbuds weigh only 8.7g each, while the OpenSwim Pro weighs 27.3g, providing extended comfort that is ideal for longer listening sessions. The ear hooks of both headphones are designed ergonomic for the maximum comfort and reinforced stability that defies intense shaking.
How is the Sound Quality
OpenSwim Pro and OpenFit Air transmit sound in different ways. The former features PremiumPitch™ 2.0+, our patented bone conduction technology that delivers sound vibrations through the human cheekbone, while the latter is superpowered by DirectPitch™, our air conduction technology that transmits sound through the air.
“Traditional bone conduction headphones lack listening immersion. However, the OpenFit Air delivers a dynamic bass boost, and the OpenSwim Pro ensures bright highs plus natural mids, and higher volume”, said @mai_nakahashi.
What are they Good for
Crafted ergonomically to perfectly hug different ear sizes and shapes, these headphones stand out for being comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. They cater to multiple scenarios such as long-distance flights, hikes, and more. Additionally, they fit securely throughout the day for activities like long-distance running, cycling, and extreme exercises. Not to mention, the OpenSwim Pro also allows users to enjoy their curated playlists up to 2 metres deep underwater with its exclusive built-in 32GB MP3.
“It even stands the stability test by surviving a few harder rides, even going so far as surviving several attempts by my toddler to dislodge them! And of course the most important thing is being able to hear your surroundings while playing your favourite music or podcast”, said @mtnbikegeek.
Neither the OpenFit Air nor the OpenSwim Pro cover the ear, which is crucial for personal safety. Open-ear headphones ensure situational awareness in scenarios such as running outdoors, crossing streets, while staying connected to the surroundings when listening to your favorite podcast during household chores. Another benefit of these headphones is the ability to take calls without completely covering the ears, allowing you to stay alert.
It is important to note that OpenFit Air is only IP54 waterproof, which means they are resistant to sweat and splashes but should not be submerged. Additionally, like any audio device, it is not advisable to bring the headphones into a sauna room, hot water shower, or expose them to heat sources.
Thank you to all the participants for sharing their thoughts and experiences. We are pleased to hear that everyone enjoyed using the headphones, with the OpenSwim Pro standing out for its higher waterproof capability and reinforced stability, and the OpenFit Air going unnoticed all day.
