Jisub Kim, born in Wonju, Gangwon Province, South Korea, started his marathon journey during his first year of high school with the encouragement of his father.
Jisub Kim, born in Wonju, Gangwon Province, South Korea, started his marathon journey during his first year of high school with the encouragement of his father. His service in the Special Forces of the Republic of Korea, laid a strong foundation for his success as a competitive trail runner. After completing his service as a sergeant, he achieved the third position in the 2013 Gobi Desert Marathon, continuing his engagement with trail running.
Since 2019, Kim has embraced a vegetarian lifestyle. Up until June 2022, he secured victories in all domestic competitions. Furthermore, as of June 2022, he attained the top spot in the Asia region (20Km category), based on scores used in the evaluation for participation in the renowned Ultra-Trail Mont Blanc, considered the world's premier trail running event.
