Arthur Joyeux-Bouillon
Born in Vercors and residing in Savoie, Arthur Joyeux-Bouillon is a true embodiment of dedication, resilience, and passion for ultra-trail running. His journey through the world of endurance sports is a compelling story of self-discovery and pushing the boundaries of physical and mental strength.
Having fallen in love with trail running in 2013 and venturing into ultra-distance in 2016, Arthur has devoted the past decade to exploring the extremes of human endurance.
His early successes, including victories at the Passerelles de Monteynard Trail (2017), Les Glaciers de la Vanoise, and La Rosière Trail (2018), marked the beginning of a promising career. His 9th place finish at the 2018 CCC® by UTMB®, covering over 100 km, hinted at his immense potential in ultra-distance racing.
However, Arthur’s journey has not been without adversity. In 2019, a series of challenges and race abandonments tested his resilience. The pivotal moment came with the guidance of his coach, Eric Lacroix, who helped him rediscover the joy and drive for ultra-trail running. During the pandemic in 2020, when races were canceled worldwide, Arthur demonstrated his determination by tackling an audacious self-imposed challenge: a 92-km round trip between La Rosière and the summit of Mont Blanc, conquering 6,100m of elevation gain in just 20 hours.
Arthur’s career trajectory has since been one of perseverance and success. In 2021, he claimed a podium finish at the TDS by UTMB® (3rd place) and completed the grueling Diagonale des Fous despite battling an injury. His 7th place finish at the 2022 UTMB® Mont Blanc further solidified his position among the elite ultra-trail athletes. The following year, in 2023, his 2nd place at the Istria 100 by UTMB® (169 km) showcased his continued growth and determination.
Most recently, Arthur delivered a remarkable performance at the 2024 HOKA UTMB® Mont Blanc, finishing 6th over 171 km in a field of the best ultra-trail athletes in the world. This result, along with his consistent achievements, highlights his unwavering commitment to progression and excellence in the sport.
Looking ahead, Arthur is set to take on some of the most iconic and challenging ultra-trail events of the year, including the 2025UTMB®, the MaxiRace, and the legendary Diagonale des Fous. Fans and competitors alike eagerly anticipate what he will achieve as he continues to evolve and push his limits.
Arthur Joyeux-Bouillon’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and passion. From his humble beginnings in the trails of Vercors to competing on the global stage, he has proven that setbacks are merely stepping stones on the path to greatness. As he continues to chase new horizons, Arthur remains an inspiring figure in the world of ultra-trail running, embodying the relentless spirit of those who dare to dream and conquer.
"In short, a real favorite! I will use it again, whether during a race or training."
"I took the OpenRun Pro 2 headphone to listen to my music! It's ultra-light, doesn't feel or move. I've been wearing it for over 12 hours. It allows me to stay in my zone while hearing the ambient noise, my breathing, and especially the encouragement. In short, a real favorite! I will use it again, whether during a race or training."
