Biography
At the foot of the Northern Alps, he was born and raised in Ōmachi City, Nagano Prefecture.
Until high school, he balanced both soccer and track and field. He then dedicated himself to long-distance running at a top ekiden high school in Japan, but was unable to achieve notable results due to repeated injuries.
During his university years, he discovered trail running, where his talent finally flourished. He won his debut race with a new course record and went on to rise to the top of the world.
