Born in Germany in 1987, Laura Philipp is one of the most respected names in the world of long-distance triathlon. What sets Laura apart is not just her victories, but her fierce individuality and resilience — traits that have carried her from amateur racing to the global stage.
Laura didn’t grow up dreaming of triathlon glory. In fact, her early life was rooted more in curiosity than competition. A sports science graduate, she initially worked as a personal trainer and coach. It was through this lens—supporting others—that she discovered her own love for endurance sports. At the age of 24, she began training seriously, and the triathlon world took notice almost immediately. Her rise was swift but steady. Laura claimed multiple Ironman 70.3 victories early in her career and gradually built a reputation for her consistency and strength across all three disciplines. She is known for her powerful bike splits and mental grit during the run — often pushing through pain barriers with a quiet, focused determination. In 2023, she won the Ironman 70.3 European Championship, affirming her place among the elite. She followed that performance with a 2nd place finish at Challenge Roth in 2024, a race known for its intense competition and emotional finish line. Her biggest statement came later that year: winning the 2024 Ironman World Championship, a dream that had long eluded her. But Laura’s journey isn’t defined solely by medals and podiums. She is vocal about athlete health, mental wellbeing, and the importance of listening to one’s body. Her transparency about struggles with overtraining and her thoughtful approach to recovery have made her a role model for athletes balancing ambition with sustainability. When she's not racing, Laura finds peace in nature, often training in the forests and mountains around her home. A passionate advocate for plant-based living and mindful performance, she brings a holistic approach to a sport known for pushing the human body to its limits. In every race, Laura runs not just toward a finish line, but toward a version of herself that’s ever-evolving, ever-stronger, and always honest.
"For me, the Shokz headphones are a small revolution."
"For me, the Shokz headphones are a small revolution. I like to listen to music while exercising, but switching off one of my senses while exercising was suspect. With the Bone conduction headphones I have the best of both worlds; I am aware of my surroundings and still listen to my favourite music or a podcast. When I'm running, I can still listen to the sound of my footsteps. On the bike, I can listen to my music without losing a sensory organ for my safety. And, not to forget, I also use the headphones for my daily phone calls and web conferences; it just feels freer."
