Tom Evans’ extraordinary journey from a British Army Captain to one of the world’s leading ultra runners began with nothing more than a casual bet — one that led him to make history as the first non-African athlete to podium at the grueling Marathon des Sables.
This unexpected debut ignited a deep passion for trail running, and in 2017, Tom committed fully to the sport. His rapid rise saw him claim victory at the UTMB® CCC in 2018 and deliver a strong showing at the legendary UTMB® in 2022. In 2023, he reached the pinnacle of his career, winning the prestigious Western States Endurance Run — a defining moment that solidified his status in the ultra-running elite.
A long-time fan of Shokz, Tom officially joined the Shokz athlete team in 2024. For him, Shokz headphones offer the perfect balance of comfort, situational awareness, and connection to the world — essential tools for long hours on the trails.
More than just medals, Tom runs for the love of challenge, the joy of movement, and the pursuit of what’s possible — constantly pushing his limits with humility, discipline, and a spark of adventure.
"I have been using Shokz since 2018 and would never use anything else!"
"Listening to music when I’m training allows me to stay motivated when I’m feeling my most tired. Having Shokz as a partner allows me to listen to music while still being able to hear what’s happening on the trail and stay safe. It allows me to perform at my best in training and in racing. As well as running, I use my Shokz when I’m travelling so I can listen to anything or make calls and stay in touch with my family and friends. I have been using Shokz since 2018 and would never use anything else! "
